Great read!

If you are looking for something fast and exciting to read, you may want to try a 3 book series (the Millenium Trilogy):

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
The Girl Who Played with Fire
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

It's written by a Swedish writer, Stieg Larsson, and it's a page turner: modern, smart, vicious, clever... Better than John Grisham.

If you want to read something more serious (but excellent), try:

"Every Man Dies Alone" by Hans Fallada, a German who wrote it in 1949, but only recently translated - a fictionalized true story of a couple who started a secret campaign of their own against Hitler by leaving postcards with anti-Hitler messages in their city. I couldn't put it down--all 500 pages of it :-) (The New York Times had a long write-up about it.)

"Tallgrass" by Sandra Dallas, novel about reactions of people in a small town in Iowa when Japanese Americans were sent there for internment during WWII. A smaller book.

Both books were wonderful.

Vicky
